Forgione Tutoring is a locally-owned and operated learning center dedicated to providing excellent customer service. We do not work in mass: through 1-on-1 coaching, we treat each student as an individual with specific needs, strengths, and goals. We pride ourselves the relationships we’ve built with local families, public and private schools, educational consultants, psychologists and other local professionals. Heather and her staff are dedicated to partnering with your student and family through the testing and college application process, offering understanding and advice through an often stressful and overwhelming experience.
Materials
We use only real SATs and ACTs for practice tests. It is much more effective to use real test questions. Students benefit from our own strategy guides and math worksheets, developed over Heather’s 20 years of tutoring with the help of staff. Our resources also contain the insights Heather and her tutors have gained from taking the SAT and ACT frequently.
Our Results
Results vary significantly from student to student depending on factors such as the consistency and intensity of tutoring, the thoroughness of HW completion, and the skill level of incoming students. We recommend 8 hours of tutoring per subject area. The SAT has three multiple choice subjects: Reading, Writing, and Math. The ACT has four: English, Math, Reading, and Science.
SAT Results
From the inception of Forgione Tutoring, we have kept detailed records of our students’ score gains. According to this data, our students have had an average increase of 150 SAT points by completing an average of 24 hours of tutoring. When the test was scored out of a 2400, we saw a gain of 160-180 points by completing an average of 15-20 hours of tutoring.
ACT Results
On average, our students see a 3-4 point increase in their composite ACT score (out of 36 points) with 24-30 hours of tutoring.
Our Commitment
We are proud of our services and strive to offer quality tutoring. We have chosen to offer our services at rates lower than our competitors, which limits our ability to offer a score increase guarantee. We have evidence that if students complete 24 hrs of SAT prep or 30 hrs of ACT prep, complete assignments, try our suggested methods, and do not have any adverse issues on test day, they should see gains. We send lesson summaries each month, informing parents of their student’s progress or of any obstacles or issues.
In the high pressure atmosphere of test taking, there are many factors that can influence a student’s performance. If a student does not see the typical increase, we offer free private lessons and complete a thorough analysis of the student’s work to determine specific areas of improvement.
